If you are thinking that it is time to get your child a pet, you want to know what type of pet you want. Make sure that you know what they can handle; understand that based on the age of your children.

Fish

One thing that you will find is that for kids you can get fish. There are many choices for fish at the pet shop and that makes it really easy for you to get just what you want. Fish are easy to take care of for kids. Take your kids to the pet shop and let them pick out the fish that they are going to want to have.

Cat

Do you know what a feral cat is? It a cat that's gone off into the wild to live. That's one of the amazing things about cats in relation to dogs; cats are not nearly as domesticated as dogs. They still have natural instincts that allow them to survive perfectly in the wild, whether that's in the alley of a New York neighborhood, or in the corn fields of a farm in Iowa. Cats are built to survive without human aid.

Dogs

A great pet for children is a dog; a dog is a man's best friend and; dogs are a great way to gift your child with a permanent friend. You want to be sure that you are comfortable with getting a dog and you feel that your children can act appropriately around them. Take them to the pet shop and see how they do when they handle the dogs so that you know that they are going to take good care of them and not manhandle them. Set ground rules before you get a dog and you will find that you will have an extremely happy child.
